Abstract

This paper builds a general profile of UK small-medium size enterprises using factoring as an option for their financial management policy, it draws evidence from the providers of finance in the factoring market. In building the profile we identify if there exists a relationship between the usage of factoring and the size of the firm (in terms of no. of employees, and turnover), sector, age and legal form. Anecdotal evidence is found to support the existence of such a relationship and also to accentuate the importance of each characteristic in profiling this form of financial service.
